Cool Cars for Kids presents the 6th annual Philadelphia Concours d’Elegance June 23-24, this year celebrating Porsche’s 75th anniversary

PHILADELPHIA -- May 24, 2023 --Nonprofit Cool Cars for Kids (CCfK) is gearing up for its sixth annual Philadelphia Concours d’Elegance, Philadelphia’s premier classic car competition, at the world-class Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum on June 23-24. This year’s Concours celebrates the Porsche marque’s 75th anniversary and opens with the “Porsche-delphia” Preview Gala dinner on Friday, June 23, from 6 to 10 p.m. The main Philadelphia Concours event takes place Saturday, June 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All proceeds from the two-day event benefit The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in providing help and hope to children with rare genetic diagnoses and their families, and to support research that will identify the best possible treatments and cures.
The gala dinner on June 23, will provide guests the opportunity to preview a selection of this year’s entries of significant Porsches as well as an invitation-only assembly of American and European classic and historic automobiles and race cars. The evening includes silent and live auctions featuring highly collectible Porsche memorabilia, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and Vermeil Wines donated by CCfK Honorary Chairman Coach Dick Vermeil, who will be among the celebrity guests.
This year’s family speakers will be Elizabeth and James DeChene, of Newark, Del., who will share their story of their daughter Cassie, who at the age of three was diagnosed at CHOP with an extremely rare genetic diagnosis caused by a mutation in her CHD4 gene. Cassie is one of fewer than 100 people worldwide with this rare CHD4 related neurodevelopmental disorder and the only one with this specific gene mutation.
“When we established Cool Cars for Kids and the annual Philadelphia Concours d’Elegance in 2017, it was with the single purpose of raising awareness about children like Cassie who are born with rare genetic diagnoses, and helping to advance the work to develop better therapies and cures,” said Ian Krantz, M.D., pediatrician and geneticist on the faculty of CHOP and the Perelman School of Medicine at The University of Pennsylvania, and CCfK founder.
